Dr. Amit M. Oza is the Medical Director of the Cancer Clinical Research Unit (CCRU) and Director of the Bras Family Drug Development Program (DDP) at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He serves as Co-Chair of the University Health Network (UHN) Clinical Research Collaborative Centre and the UHN Clinical Research Executive. Dr. Oza has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on more than 150 phase I, II, and III clinical trials in gynecologic cancers and advanced colorectal malignancies. Under his leadership, the gynecologic oncology clinical trials group at Princess Margaret has grown into one of the largest and most productive globally, enrolling more than 200 patients annually and consistently accounting for over 30% of ovarian cancer patients seen at the centre. His group has played a pivotal role in landmark studies that have led to the global approval and adoption of targeted agents such as PARP inhibitors (olaparib, niraparib) and anti-angiogenic therapies (bevacizumab). Over the past decade, Dr. Oza has been Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on more than 19 research grants awarded by leading national and international agencies including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute, the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Dr. Susan Fox MB, ChB, MRCP(UK), PhD is Professor of Neurology, University of Toronto and associate director of the movement disorder clinic, Krembil Brain Institute. She was division head of Neurology 2019 – 2025. She is President-Elect of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) (2025-27) and current chair of the Parkinson Canada Research and Clinical Advisory Committee. Dr. Fox has over 30 years’ experience in preclinical models of Parkinson’s disease and translational studies of novel pharmacological therapies for Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. She has published over 250 peer-reviewed papers, reviews and book chapters in the field and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.

Katherine Karakasis

Katherine Karakasis, MSc is Manager of the UHN Clinical Research Collaborative Centre, where she supports the Co-Chairs and the Clinical Research Executive (CRE) to strengthen UHN’s clinical research enterprise. She provides leadership in research operations—helping establish harmonized approaches, universal resources (including SOPs and templates), and clear communication channels that enable study teams to deliver high-quality research across UHN. Her work advances coordinated, scalable supports through site-based Clinical Research Units (CRUs) at UHN hospital sites. Katherine brings nearly two decades of experience at University Health Network spanning translational program leadership, stakeholder engagement, and scientific communications. She holds a Master of Science and an Honours Bachelor of Science (Biology) from Queen’s University.
